Lucille Campbell Green, ca. 1900.
Born in Christiansburg, Virginia, in 1883, Green was trained as a school teacher. A widow, she married Randolph in 1914. As a beauty-shop operator with ties to Madam C.J. Walker (a black cosmetics businesswoman), Mrs. Randolph was a crucial source of financial support for her husband's subsequent political, civil rights and labor activism. Photograph courtesy: A.
