Blackboard Courses

How do I find my Blackboard course?

The Blackboard courses you are enrolled in are listed on the opening screen - the My Blackboard tab.  Look for the block entitled "My Courses." Click the name of the course to enter the course.

A list of the courses you are enrolled in is also located on the Courses tab.

How do I navigate the Blackboard course?

A series of buttons on the left of each course screen provide for navigation. Click the corresponding button to access a particular content area.  The standard course buttons are Announcements, Course Information, Faculty Information, Assignments and Tools.  The buttons that appear will depend on the layout of your particular course.  Therefore, you may not see all of the buttons in every course.  Some content areas are also organized with folders, where each folder can contain items and subfolders.

The instructor posted an announcement, but I don't see it ...

Announcements for individual courses are found on the opening page of the course. The default view shows announcements posted within the last seven days. To view announcements more than 7 days old, click either the "View Last 30 Days" tab or "View All" tab.

You can also view announcements for all of your courses on the My Blackboard tab.  Only announcements posted that day are shown.  Click "more ..." to view all of your announcements.  The next screen displays announcements posted within the last 7 days. To view announcements more than 7 days old, click either the "View Last 30 Days" tab or "View All" tab.  You also have an option to select all of your announcements, "Show All" or only the announcements from an individual course.

How do I communicate with the instructor or other students?

You may communicate with other students using your own e-mail or Blackboard's Send E-mail function.  In addition to these options, you may exchange files with your instructor using Blackboard's Digital Drop Box.
