Digital Drop Box

The Digital Drop Box allows students to exchange files with the instructor (not other students).  The Digital Drop Box is found in the Student Tools section of a Bb course.

How do I transfer files?

You can add a file to the drop box and send it at a later time.  Click Add File on the top navigational bar of the Digital Drop box main menu.  Use the Browse button to locate your file.  Click Submit to add the file to the Drop Box.  To send a file from the drop box, click Send File from the digital drop box page.

If you select “Send item” first, you will be able to add and send the file simultaneously.

How do I receive files sent to the Digital Drop Box?

Any file sent to you will be listed in the Digital Drop Box with the date and time received.  The Digital Drop Box is found in the Student Tools section of a Bb course.

Is there a record of when I sent and received files?

Files sent to the instructor will show the date and time submitted.  Files that are added to the Drop Box but not sent will show the date and time they were posted to Blackboard.  Files sent from the instructor will show the date and time received.  Note that the date and time displayed are always the date and time on your machine, not the date and time on the Blackboard server.

Why has my instructor not received documents I added to my Digital Dropbox?

It may be that you added items to the Dropbox, but have not yet sent them.  If you are able to see a “Remove” button next to the item in question in their own Dropbox , then the file has not been sent.

Some instructors may prefer to receive files via e-mail and not the Digital Drop Box. Check your syllabus to see if the instructor has stated a preference.

How do I remove files?

Click the Remove button beside a file in the Digital Drop Box.

Can I get a file back that I mistakenly sent to the instructor?

No.  Once a file has been sent to the instructor, it cannot be removed from the Digital Drop Box.
