Known Bb Issues

Microsoft Hotmail and MSN Mail Accounts

Microsoft’s Hotmail and MSN mail accounts have a spam filter with options that may route e-mail sent with the Blackboard Send E-mail function to the Junk Mail folder.

If the spam filter is set at the "default" value, you should not have a problem. E-mail sent to you by other students with the Blackboard Send E-mail function is sent to the normal received mail folder.

However, if the spam filter is set to the “enhanced” or“exclusive” options, e-mail sent with the Blackboard Send E-mail function may be sent to the Junk Mail folder.  Microsoft warns users that using the enhanced and exclusive options may identify wanted messages as junk mail and to check their Junk Mail folder regularly to make sure wanted e-mail has not been moved there. MSN empties the Junk Mail folder regularly to keep the folder size small. Note that the "enhanced" and "exclusive" options also have an option to delete junk mail messages without delivering them to the Junk Mail folder.

AOL Users

There are known problems with the AOL browser.  However, you can still use your AOL connection without using the AOL browser.  Login to your AOL account and minimize the AOL window.  Then start the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape browser from the Start menu.
