How do I send e-mail?

Click the Communication button within the course.  Then click the Send E-mail option.   The following options are available from the Send E-mail page: All Users, All Groups, All Teaching Assistants, All Instructors, Select Users, Select Groups.  After choosing the appropriate option, type your subject line and message, and click the Submit button.

How do others get my e-mail address?

Your e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you provided when you registered for the course. That address is automatically associated with your name when other students send e-mail to you.  If you have made your e-mail address public in the user directory, other users of Blackboard will be able to see your e-mail address.

How do I update my e-mail address?

You may change your e-mail address from the My Blackboard tab or from within the course.

From the opening screen (My Blackboard tab):

• Locate the Tools box on the left side to the My Blackboard tab.
• Click “Personal Information.”
• Click “Edit Personal Information.”
• Change the e-mail address.
• Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Submit” button.
  

From within a course:

• Locate the Tools (or Student Tools) button on the left side of the course.
• Click the “Tools” button.
• Click “Personal Information.”
• Click “Edit Personal Information.”
• Change the e-mail address.
• Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Submit” button.

How do I get a copy of the e-mail I sent with Send E-mail?

Blackboard does not have a "Sent Mail" folder or an "Outbox."  To get a copy of any messages you send with the Send E-mail feature, click your name in the list of recipients.

There is also an option "Send Copy of Message to self."  However, some institutions have reported problems with this option, so we recommend the option above.

I am not getting the e-mail that members of the class are sending me ...

E-mail will be sent to the address that you gave when you registered for the class.  Use your regular e-mail program to retrieve your e-mail.

Check that the correct e-mail address has been entered in Blackboard. Follow the instructions in the previous question to verify or change your e-mail address.
