User Directory

What is the User Directory?

The User Directory is a list of all users of the NLC Blackboard system. A link to the User Directory is located in the Tools block on the left side of the My Blackboard tab.

I don't see my name in the User Directory ...

For privacy reasons, users are not listed in the User Directory unless they indicate they wish to be included. This is done from the Set Privacy Options page.

How do I Set Privacy Options?

Locate the Tools block on the My Blackboard tab.

• Click Personal Information to display the Personal Information page.
• On the next page, click Set Privacy Options.
• Select the information you would like to make public to all users of the Blackboard system. The options are E-mail address, Address, Work Information and Additional Contact Information.
• Select "List my information in the User Directory"
• Click the Submit button.

Only the information you checked will be displayed in the User Directory.

Why should I include myself in the User Directory?

Students who are in your class can contact you by using the Communication options within the Blackboard course.  However, you may wish that other students, who are not in your class, have your e-mail address.
