When employers, higher education institutions or other organizations or agencies ask for a transcript of a student’s higher education work, they are usually referring to transcripts which are transmitted directly to them by the sending institution and which bear some secure means of identifying them as unaltered, accurate records.  These are often referred to as “official transcripts.”  NLC official transcripts are printed on security paper and bear the college seal and the signature of the registrar.  These transcripts will be mailed directly from the registrar’s office to the entity you indicated on your transcript release form.

When you request official transcripts be sent directly to you, they are sealed in a university envelope and the envelope is stamped “Void If Opened”.   Most prefer a transcript come directly from the issuing college, however some entities will accept such a transcript as official if delivered to them in the still sealed envelope bearing the “Void if Opened” stamp.   Check with the organization requesting your transcript to determine if they require a copy sent directly from NLC prior to making your transcript request.

NLC will continue to process transcript requests throughout the Teach Out phase which will end on December 31, 2015.   In March of 2016 all National Labor College academic transcripts will be moved to the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) – and directions on how to obtain a copy of your transcript and contact information for MHEC will be posted on this page.

Until February 28, 2016 your transcripts can be requested by completing this transcript request form.   Federal Law (FERPA) requires student authorization to issue a transcript, thus all transcripts requests must include the signature of the student or the request will be returned for completion.  If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].   Your completed and signed form can be returned as a pdf attachment to [email protected] or mailed to this address:
