Financial Aid

Federal Financial Aid Eligibility at National Labor College

The U.S. Government offers a number of grant and loan programs to help eligible students finance college. Federal student aid covers expenses such as tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. This aid may also assist you in paying for a computer or dependent care.

In order to be eligible:

  • You must have at least 56 credits either earned at NLC or transferred from other institutions or apprenticeships.
  • You must be enrolled in one of our bachelor's degree programs.
  • You must be enrolled at National Labor College for a minimum of six credit hours and these courses must span the length of an academic term.
    • For example, you must take two 15-week courses simultaneously or two 7-week courses consecutively in a semester.

Applying for Federal Financial Aid

  1. Complete and submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). National Labor College's School Code is 034555.
    • After submitting the FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) by email containing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
  2. Create a free profile on National Labor College's Virtual Financial Aid Office (VFAO).
  3. Conduct a "virtual interview" through National Labor College's VFAO.
    • You will need your EFC to complete this interview.

NLC participates in the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, and Direct Loan programs.
