National Labor College held its annual Gala on February 25, at the Buena Vista Hotel in Orlando, Florida, in conjunction with the AFL-CIO Executive Council Meeting.
The theme of this year’s event was “Forward!” — highlighting the excitement that has been building at NLC over the past couple of years as we expand our rigorous programs and student-focused services to bring high quality accessible and affordable collegiate education to more men and women of the labor movement. There is nothing more important to us than the power of education to improve the lives of those in our labor community.
This year, National Labor College proudly honored three of our strongest allies and some of the labor community’s most respected leaders:
- Stephen Coyle, CEO of the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust
- Frank Hurt, retired International President of The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union
- Ed Smith, President and CEO of Ullico
The evening offered everyone an opportunity to mingle and renew old acquaintances and make new ones.
