Kurt Speigel Family photoKurt Spiegel, a field supervisor for WFSE/AFSCME 28, worried that he wouldn’t have the time, energy and financial resources to reach his goal of earning a bachelor’s degree in Labor Studies, but he’s found that he has all the support he needs to succeed at NLC.

Kurt, a two-time recipient of a Union Plus Scholarship, appreciates the opportunity to finish his courses at NLC.

“Completing my degree through NLC has given me the opportunity to improve my skills for representing members while expanding my horizons in labor,” Kurt says.

Still, the cost of pursuing a degree can be overwhelming, especially for a father of three young children.

Without the Union Plus Scholarship, other family expenses would always take priority. Thanks to the scholarship, I am able to accomplish my own education goals too.

Kurt, a former Local 2753 president, knows that the knowledge he has gained from his NLC classes benefits both him and the AFSCME members he supports.

Scholarships for the Fall semester are available to help your dreams of completing a degree come true, make sure you apply by August 6th to qualify for federal financial aid and scholarships.
