WELCOME to the Rail Workers Hazardous Materials Training Program's web site
This site is dedicated to rail workers and rail hazmat issues, and was developed with funding from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). NIEHS funding also provides hazardous materials training and radiological transportation courses on the NLC campus and in the field.
The Rail Workers Hazardous Materials Training Program also receives funding from the US Department of Transportation to conduct Hazmat Instructor Train the Trainer courses. This training is offered to rail workers who have an interest in protecting and educating their co-workers and communities.
Uncontrolled releases of chemicals can be extremely dangerous, especially in transportation. Emergency responders are particularly at risk. Any worker who is likely to witness or discover a hazardous materials spill or release or who is likely to be involved in the clean-up or post-emergency response activities of a hazardous materials incident is considered a first responder and is required to be trained by the employer.Register for DOT Train the Trainer, DOE radiological transportation and Chemical Emergency Response/Hazmat Transportation Courses - Applications are being accepted for hazardous materials, hazmat instructor training, and radiological transportation training courses.

Due to recent administrative changes it is necessary to postpone the release of training dates. We are working on establishing new training dates and locations for all classes offered by the Rail Workers Hazardous Materials Training Program. We apologize for the difficulty this may create for many of you eager to attend, yet finding it necessary to properly plan in advance for excusing yourself from work and family responsibilities.
If you would like to have your name added to our list of interested participants while we work through our planning process we will accept your application and notify you of future dates and locations for your selection. Please indicate which program you are interested in attending by checking the appropriate boxes.
