Widows of uranium miners from Cove, Arizona. On October 15, 1990, uranium workers and their families won an important victory with the enactment of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. It provides for payments to predominantly Navajo miners, millers, and ore transporters who worked in uranium mines between 1947 and 1971 in and near the Navajo nation.
