On September 13, 1973, a small band of mostly Chicano employees of the City of Artisia went on strike for union recognition. The next 14 months were punctuated by picketing, marches, demonstrations, and rallies. Local vigilantes and police attempted to break down the picket lines, strikers and their supporters were arrested, but still they stood up for their rights and the key to democracy - the American worker.
